The house is part Georgian and part Victorian, and is situated in an elevated position in the Urr Valley in the Dumfries and Galloway region of south west Scotland. Run by Pat and Alan Withall, the property is bounded on the southern side by the River Urr. Through time they intend to open the river, which was fished in days gone by, but hasn’t been touched for several years. It is known that the upper reaches yield salmon as well as sea trout and brown trout. The house lies in 35 acres of parkland and gardens and has a well established topiary and walled garden, where fresh fruit and vegetables are grown. Pat is an excellent cook, and uses produce from the gardens to provide a fine breakfast, and exquisite evening meal if required. Vegetarian meals are available on request. |
