Food, Art and Books are just three of the components the theme towns can offer the potential visitor to the Glorious Galloway but as we know there is so much more….
The three Theme Towns were successful working together to achieve funding from the Visit Scotland Challenge Fund. The successful bid helped to create and develop a joint marketing programme to encourage visitors to come to the Glorious Galloway and experience the Journey that links the three towns and their surrounding attractions and events. The theme towns are small towns of character and have matured well, and are now recognised at a national level as examples of small town regeneration . However each of the towns have been trying to find the next way forward and it has been realised that the sum of the three parts will work better for all concerned and offer the visitor a more complete package. This coming together also enables the skills and the resources available to produce a marketing programme that will help promote the many attributes this wonderful part of Scotland can offer potential visitors.

What is the Visit Scotland Challenge Fund.

It is designed to complement the VisitScotland National marketing strategy by supporting groups of businesses to promote a unique and quality visitor experience to identified consumer groups.

How is the Funding made up:-

• 40% Visit Scotland Challenge
• Fund 25% Local Business members
• 15 % Council Area Committee and balance made up from contributions by the three Theme Town volunteer groups.

• Dedicated portal web site which will be seasonally and activity/event driven.
• Designed to promote this area’s many attributes.
• Targeted Leaflet mailings and distribution to guide people to the web site
• Feature/event mailings.
• PR publicity to travel magazines and Jornalists.
• Dedicated FAB Glorious Galloway Brochure.
• E mail marketing.
